STA CRUZ --- Dust off your clubs and do not hesitate to register for the one-day, invitational Papiamento Restaurant/Wente Vineyards Golf Tournament, which is held on April 10. There are still a few spots open, so sign up quickly if you have not done so yet.
Always a fun event, the tournament always supports a worthy cause. This year, proceeds are going to the local foundation for Autism, the Fundacion Autismo Aruba (FAA). This foundation helps parents with autistic children cope and deal with this disorder, which comes in many forms. Parents receive information, get guidelines and assistance where and when needed from this foundation. Autism in children is often not recognized as such and when recognized, not guided as it should be. There is still a world of knowledge to be imparted in this area.
As is customary, the golf tournament starts off with a cocktail reception in the stunning private garden of Papiamento Restaurant on April 9, where excellent Wente Vineyards wines will flow freely. Fifth-generation Eric Wente and his wife Arel will be present at the reception. Eric loves this tournament and he is greatly looking forward to play the required 18 holes. Participants are treated to a fantastic `soup buffet before the prizes for the winners are handed out. The first prize is a round trip to Livermore Valley, where the superb Wente golf course is waiting for action.
If you have not registered for the Papiamento Restaurant/Wente Vineyards Golf Tournament as yet, do so immediately before it is too late at the Tierra del Sol golf club or via Arion Wine Company (594-3323 Martrude Rutgers), local representative of Wente Wines or at
